2015 Style Resolutions

I hope I’m not too late in sharing my New Years’ fashion resolutions and reflections with you all, but here goes… I am absolutely a clothing hoarder and one of those people who gets carried away with purchasing pieces in all the different colours available to ultimately wear it once in a yearly cycle. On the flip side, I still have clothes in my wardrobe from when I was 13 years old (no I’ve not grown since then, sob).  My resolution this year is to condense my wardrobe and limit it to pieces which are timeless and of great quality so that my style is sustainable socially, financially and environmentally. As such, I’ve been sifting through my wardrobe and have been taking away things that I’ve not worn in the past year down to H&M to recycle, or I've been handing them down to my cousins/whoever will take them. And no, it’s not to make way for (much) more, but rather, to recognise my most loved items and to take away the surrounding clutter of things I've purchased on impulse.

To help me with my resolution, I've picked out some things from New Look which I aim to include more of in my closet and which will never go out of style. A black and white palette is a timeless combination of colours and one that would suit, literally, anybody. Evidently, this particular colour combo and stripes, are the themes for the collection I've chosen above! My goal, keep it simple and timeless. What do you think? Check out New Look for some fantastic closet staples and so much more. All links to the items are above!

Texture Play

Fedora c/o Oasap · shirt from Motel · New Look coat · clutch from Urban Outfitters
So I've got faux fur, some lilac fuzzy material, a bit of lace, chiffon underneath... Typically I'd keep a texture-tastic outfit simple in its colour palette, but I definitely need some colour to boost my mood post-Christmas. I'd easily swap out the fedora and faux fur to a beanie and a chunky knit scarf for a more laid back and dressed down vibe.

#FLASHMOB

nail lacquer c/o Flashmob cosmetics · ring from Accessorize
I'm back again with a quick and easy geometric nail art to jazz up your January and hopefully have you back on track to beating those blues! (let's not talk about how far away payday is). I've chosen to use a simple white base by Flashmob cosmetics, leave to dry, and then with steady hands or masking tape, swipe the blue polish across the top of your nails to shape the white base into a pyramid! (or what currently looks like an iceberg against a blue sky) What do you think? Would you like to see more nail art?

In The Plaid

box bag c/o Oasap · blanket scarf from Primark · jacket from Zara

Oh the trouble of trying to photograph a transparent box, 20 photos of too much glare and out of focus shots later, I've caught this bad boy on camera and popped in a little doughnut purse for good measure. Blanket scarves are vital when the temperature drops to one degrees celsius everyday. I purchased this just before I left for Hong Kong precisely because I wanted an extra blanket for the airplane journey there and the reversible factor is an extra bonus! How are you keeping warm this winter?

Ps. Thank you again to my wonderful SCYG for these beautiful roses and champagne truffles, I'm going to miss you!
