Travel in style and luxury with the Shangri-La hotel Tokyo

Undeniably one of the best hotels in Tokyo, Shangri-La hotel Tokyo encapsulates modern elegance and opulence right at the heart of the city - nothing says luxury more than 50 handmade chandeliers glittering throughout the building, including a spectacular 10 metre long feature cascading down 3 floors made of close to half a million crystal beads. I had the pleasure of staying with the Shangri-La Tokyo and my experience was nothing short of exceptional.

Location

Sweeping views of the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Sky Tree Tower and Shinjuku's skyscrapers not only speak to the convenience of being located at Tokyo station, its strategic location in the Marunouchi business area also offers a harmonic blend of work and play. If it's your first time travelling into Tokyo don't forget to take advantage of the complimentary 'Meet and Greet' service to ensure you don't lose your way navigating from Tokyo Station platform to the hotel, because believe me, getting lost at Tokyo Station is a rite of passage first time or not!

The Room

The hotel's 200 guestrooms are all generously sized, its Presidential Suite even stretches to an impressive 269sqm boasting highly coveted space in the heart of Tokyo. I loved staying in the Deluxe Room overlooking Tokyo Bay, the space reflecting Japanese influence and modernity with an earthy palette of deep reds and gold exuding homeliness and comfort set to luxurious silks, velvets and an elegant marble bathroom featuring a rainforest shower and tv while you brush your teeth!

Horizon Club

I was lucky enough to take advantage of Shangri-La's distinguished Horizon Club Membership during my stay, which as well as services to ensure seamless check in and check out, offers the use of a private lounge with complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails and canapés at different set times of the day. The open plan lounge decorated in a contemporary international style, with plush armchairs, and panoramic views of the city makes for a welcoming urban haven for the discerning traveller. I made it to the lounge just before sunset for a selection of refreshing cocktails and refined evening canapés served by a specialist concierge team. The Horizon Club Lounge was definitely one of the highlights of my stay, the staff were dedicated to serve, attentive and welcoming, ensuring drinks were always on offer and refreshing the food bar with delicious hot and cold canapés throughout the evening. This is a must visit for your stay at the Shangri-La!

Breakfast

Our breakfast spread was incredible. With choices from congee to American style breakfast, there's something to suit all tastes. We ordered the crab congee which arrived with century old egg! A lobster eggs benedict, an American breakfast, award winning pastries, juice and of course, coffee. Suffice to say breakfast was our most important and extravagant meal of the day. 

I had an incredible stay at the Shangri-La Tokyo. The hotel is beautiful, enhanced with a stunning collection of artwork and lavish chandeliers to make sure that the building outshines most. A fully equipped gym, an extensive spa menu at award winning Chi, The Spa and 2 first class restaurants means that your every need and more is catered for as well as brilliant staff committed to providing excellent service at all points of your stay. Shangri-La Hotel Tokyo truly is a luxurious sanctuary in the heart of a busy city and I couldn't recommend this hotel enough.
