The Body Shop Brightening Duo First Impressions

The Body Shop's brightening duo has now landed and features their strongest multi protection essence to protect your skin against "daily aggressors" sun and pollution included! The Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence not only contains SPF50 and offers UVA Protection (against long UVA rays, which reach deep within the skin and accelerate the process of skin ageing) is also anti-oxidant and anti-dullness: with red algae extract and vitamin C to brighten skin.

I've been using the Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF50 as my daily SPF in the last week and love the lightweight, milky formula that doesn't leave any greasy residue after sinking into the skin. It boasts a feather light, milk to water essence and I totally stand by that! Exactly as it says on the tin, this essence leaves a brightening effect on the skin, but one that is subtle and devoid of a white cast! The only con I can think of at this stage is that this product does contain a distinct but light musky fragrance, that I'm impartial to, but may not be to everyone's taste.

PROs

- Lightweight on the skin
- Absorbs into the skin well
- No pilling, even on top of moisturiser
- Very high sun protection
- Contains Vitamin C, anti-oxidant properties
- Leaves a subtle brightening effect

CONs

- Musky fragrance

It's partner, Drops of Light™ Pure Healthy Brightening Serum claims to reduce the number and intensity of dark spots and over time, leaves skin healthy and translucent with an even tone. I've only been using this for just under a week so am not in a position to provide a comprehensive review, but also love it's light-weightedness making it ideal for daytime application. If you want me to come back to this in a few week's time, let me know in the comments below!

Have you tried either product in the Brightening Duo Body Shop range?
